Privacy policy

This policy explains what information OGSetu handles when your housing society uses the OGSetu app, and when you contact us through this website. If anything is unclear, write to hello@ogsetu.com.
OGSetu is operated by Mithkal Minds. In this policy, “OGSetu”, “we” and “us” mean Mithkal Minds, which runs the OGSetu app and ogsetu.com. “Your society” means the housing society, association or building whose records you use OGSetu for.
Who is responsible for what
Your society decides what it records in OGSetu: its flats, members, dues, notices, visitor entries and so on. For those society records, we handle information on your society’s behalf and follow its instructions, for example when an admin approves a member or removes a document.
For your OGSetu account itself, and for messages you send us through this website, Mithkal Minds is the data fiduciary under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023: we decide how that information is used and are responsible for it.
What we collect
Depending on how you use the app, we handle:
- Account details from Qviple when you sign in: your name, Qviple username, profile photo, and the phone number and email address on your Qviple account.
- Society membership: your society, flat, role (for example owner, tenant, family, committee, accountant or guard) and join requests.
- Dues and payments: invoices, payments, receipts, refunds, penalties and expenses recorded by your society, including payment references from PhonePe when online payment is switched on.
- Gate records: visitor names, phone numbers, vehicle numbers and photos taken by guards, visitor passes (the six-digit codes are stored only in hashed form), check-in and check-out times, parcels, domestic staff attendance, parking allocations and the society’s blacklist.
- Community records: notices and who acknowledged them, poll votes, complaints and their photos and comments, amenity bookings, meeting RSVPs and attendance, and documents shared with you.
- Safety information: SOS alerts, including the type of emergency and a location if you choose to add one, and the personal emergency contacts you save.
- Social tab activity: the profile, posts, comments, messages and other content you create in the Social tab (see “The Social tab” below).
- Device and app information: a push-notification token, your notification preferences and quiet hours, app usage events (for example a successful sign-in or a complaint being raised) and crash reports.
On this website, if you use the demo request form we receive what you type (name, role, society, city, number of flats, phone, email and message) and the address of the page you sent it from. To stop abuse we also keep one-way hashes of your IP address and of your phone and email, which we use only to limit how many requests can be sent in an hour. This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
Why we use it
- To run the features your society uses: the gate, billing and payments, notices, polls, complaints, amenities, meetings, documents and SOS.
- To show each person only what their role allows. Permissions are checked on our servers for every action.
- To send in-app and push notifications, such as a visitor waiting at the gate, a new invoice or an SOS alert, and, if you opt in, a weekly email about overdue dues.
- To keep the service secure: rate-limiting sign-in and codes, locking out repeated wrong codes, and investigating misuse.
- To find and fix bugs, using crash reports and app usage events.
- To reply to demo requests and support messages.
We do not sell personal information and we do not show advertising in OGSetu.
Who in your society can see what
Information is shared inside your society according to role. Residents see their own flat’s dues, visitors and bookings; the committee and accountant see the society’s finances and members; guards see what they need at the gate. Society managers can see how each member voted in a poll, so polls are not anonymous. Documents are shared with the committee, with all residents, or with one flat, as the uploader chooses.
Services that process data for us
We use the following services to run OGSetu. Each one receives only what it needs for its job.
| Service | What it does for OGSetu |
|---|---|
| Qviple | Sign-in. Qviple checks your password or OTP and tells us who you are. Your Qviple account is governed by Qviple’s own terms and privacy policy. |
| Convex | Our database, file storage (such as visitor photos, complaint photos, documents and PDF invoices) and server functions. Demo requests from this website are stored here too. |
| Google Firebase | Push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging), app usage events (Google Analytics for Firebase), crash reports (Crashlytics), and hosting for this website. |
| Supabase | The Social tab, which is shared across Qviple apps. |
| Resend | Email, currently only the opt-in weekly overdue-dues email. |
| PhonePe | Online payments, for societies that switch them on. Card, UPI and bank details are entered with PhonePe; OGSetu does not receive or store them. |
These providers may store and process data on servers outside India. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect someone’s safety.
How long we keep it
- Society records are kept while your society uses OGSetu, because the society needs them for its accounts and history.
- When you delete your account, your account, profile and society memberships are removed. Payment and other society records you were part of are kept in anonymised form so the society’s accounts still add up.
- Sign-in sessions end after 24 hours at most, or after 8 hours without activity.
- Demo requests are kept while we follow up with you. Ask us and we will delete yours.
Your choices and rights
- Export: in the app, go to Account → Export my data to download your profile, flats, family, dues, complaints, visitor entries and emergency contacts for your current society.
- Delete: in the app, go to Account and delete your account (you will be asked to confirm twice). If you are the only admin of a society, hand the role to someone else first. Deleting your OGSetu account does not delete your Qviple account.
- Correct: ask your society admin to fix society records such as your flat or role, or write to us.
- Notifications: choose which notifications you get, and set quiet hours, in the app. SOS alerts always come through.
- Nominate: you can name someone to exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to, by writing to us.
For anything you cannot do in the app, including a request under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, write to hello@ogsetu.com from the phone number or email on your account so we can confirm it is you.
How we protect it
Every action that changes data is checked on our servers against your society membership and role. Visitor pass codes, parcel pickup codes and claim codes are stored only as hashes and lock out after repeated wrong attempts; sign-in is rate-limited; documents are downloaded through links that expire. No system is perfectly secure, so if you think your account has been misused, tell us straight away.
Children
OGSetu is meant for adults who live in, work in or help run a housing society. If you believe a child’s information has been added without a parent’s or guardian’s permission, write to us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how we use information you have already given us, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
Questions and grievances
Write to hello@ogsetu.com or WhatsApp +91 72761 47751. For a complaint about how your information is handled, write to our Grievance Officer at hello@ogsetu.com with “Privacy grievance” in the subject; we will acknowledge it and reply within the time the law requires. If you are not satisfied with our reply, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

The Social tab
The Social tab is the social network shared by Qviple apps. It is not private to your society: your social profile, posts and other content there can be seen by people outside your society, according to the visibility and blocking settings in the Social tab. Society notices, polls, complaints and other society records are not part of the Social tab. Guards do not have the Social tab.
