About OGSetu

A society should run on one record everyone can trust.

OGSetu exists to replace the gate notebook, the WhatsApp dues reminders, the printout by the lift and the treasurer’s spreadsheet with one app the whole society shares.

Why we built it

A carefully maintained Indian housing society entrance with a gatehouse, planted borders and residential buildings beyond.
Illustrative society scene · AI generated

A housing society keeps a surprising number of records: who came through the gate, who has paid, what the committee decided, which complaint is still open. In most societies each of those records lives with one person, in one notebook, group or spreadsheet.

So the guard doesn’t know which guests are expected, residents don’t know what they owe until someone asks, and the committee can’t tell who read the notice. Nobody is careless. The records just don’t talk to each other.

OGSetu keeps them in one place. Everyone works from the same facts, and each person sees the part that is theirs: the resident their flat, the guard the gate, the accountant the ledger, the committee the whole society.

What we hold to

Four principles, and where you can see each one in the app.

  1. Calm over urgent

Running a society is stressful enough. The app should lower the temperature, not raise it.

In the appA quiet, paper-toned design, and quiet hours for notifications. SOS is the one alert that breaks through them.

  2. One shared record

The gate, the dues and the notice board are one system, not three apps stitched together.

In the appA payment recorded at the office appears on the resident’s home screen. A walk-in registered at the gate asks the resident to approve.

  3. Every language

People should use the app in the language they think in, not the one the software was written in.

In the appAll 3,351 strings of the society app in English, Hindi and Marathi. Each person picks their own.

  4. Private by default

A society’s records belong to the society, and each person’s data to that person.

In the appEvery change is checked on the server against the person’s society and role. Any member can export their data or delete their account.
